Nonprofit Board Essentials: Demystifying your Board

Are you eager to learn more about the essentials of board responsibility and the role your board should play in your organization’s overall health and success? Nonprofit boards play a critical role in effectiveness and impact, yet we often do not have the opportunity to learn and reflect on the fundamentals of a healthy board-professional partnership. This workshop will focus on the roles and responsibilities of Board members and staff, the characteristics and practices of a healthy and productive board/staff partnership, and the core components of effective Boards. You will leave the workshop with a clear understanding of what excellent governance is, and action steps to improve your own board interactions.

This workshop is designed for any Board Member or professional working with boards who wants to learn or re-establish their understanding of the fundamentals of excellent board service. While this session is tailored for those at all levels who seek professional development around overall board practices, it is most relevant for those who have ever had questions or wondered about the role of the board in your organization.

Collaborating With Your Board

This workshop will provide organizational leaders with clear expectations of their board counterparts, tools for communicating with and managing their board members, and concrete tactics for strengthening your senior team’s partnership with your board. During the workshop, we will also explore how to empower board members to take ownership of board work, culture and outcomes. You’ll come out of the workshop with robust and actionable tools to drive your board’s effectiveness and overall organizational impact.

This workshop is a great fit for senior-level leaders across the sector who directly manage the organization-to-board relationship and who are excited about strengthening their work with their board. You need not be a CEO or Executive Director to be participate.
