“What is an Insider?: How do we know which community members we can trust? — Text-based learning

The mishna describes a category of rabbinic insiders called haverim. Literally translating to “friends,” these are people who are broadly signed up for the same project: who observe the laws the same way and are like-minded. We might call them “people in the same social bubble.” What can this ancient concept teach us about who to trust, how to build boundaries, and how to know when it’s time to cross those boundaries and expand our trust to the entire Jewish people?
