Immigration in Baltimore – Current trends, and the work of welcome
Esperanza Center, a program of Catholic Charities of Baltimore, provides lifesaving services to the Baltimore region’s immigrant community. Located in Southeast Baltimore City and Baltimore County, Esperanza Center serves nearly 4,000 immigrant adults and children each year in programming that includes immigration legal representation, primary and preventive healthcare, English language training, and community-based advocacy and resource navigation.
This activity will welcome up to 30 JPro25 participants to 430 South Broadway in the Fells Point neighborhood, an historic entry community for immigrants of many national and ethnic origins. With a focus on current trends and patterns reflecting the Latin American immigrant experience in Baltimore, Esperanza staff will engage participants in a 1-hour experiential learning activity, including accompanying presentation and discussion.
